First home game after the international break – Hannover comes to Noerdlingen

After the DBBL took a break last weekend and EuroBasket qualifying games took place instead, the Eigner Angels will continue with league action on Sunday. But not all players of the team from Noerdlingen had a game-free time. Elina Koskimies and Anissa Pounds played for the Finnish national team and delivered great games, while Samantha Hill was „briefly“ in Canada and trained with the national team there. Now it is time to focus on the next home game, because on Sunday, 21.11. the TK Hannover Luchse are guests in the Ries.

A victory in their own hall would certainly be desirable for the Angels. Not least because of injury luck they had to accept some annoying defeats and slipped thereby on place nine in the table of the 1.Liga. The situation is completely different for the guests. With only two narrow defeats against the two best-placed teams, TKH is in third place in the table. Especially when you consider that the Lower Saxons finished the preseason in eleventh place and were only not relegated due to a special rule, they can be quite satisfied with that.

The coach of TK Hannover since this season is Sidney Parsons. She still knows the Ries from her active time as a player and has good memories here. After a few successful years, which she shaped from the sidelines in Wasserburg, she replaced Juliane Höhne as coach of the Luchse this year. When she made the switch, she brought several players with her to Lower Saxony. Anne Zipser and Helena Eckerle had already developed greatly under Coach Parsons in Wasserburg. The US American Kelly Moten, on the other hand, was already a leading player at the Inn and is also a top scorer at her new place of work.

Sunday’s game will feature another former Angels player. Danielle McCray played for Nördlingen two years ago and shone with outstanding statistics. Tony Imreh knows all too well about her qualities and it should not have surprised him that the Florida-born center put an exclamation mark on her second game for TKH with 19 points. The fact that McCray has only played two games is due to the fact that she was called up three weeks ago to replace the injured Englishman Samantha Roscoe, who was previously one of the Luchse’s most important players.
In general, the Hannover team’s personnel situation is anything but precarious. The squad includes a number of familiar names and the points are distributed among several key players. Among others, the team welcomes Aliaksandra Tarasava, who is an excellent build-up player, and a third ex-Rieser to the HKH. And also the name Patricia Broßmann should be familiar at the latest since its appearance in the national team last week the basketball-interested spectator. She shows herself to be particularly strong in rebounding and has collected the most rebounds in the league so far.

Also in the camp of the Noerdlingen women can hopefully soon breathe a sigh of relief when Meg Wilson and Mariam Haslé-Lagemann are ready for action again. After their long compulsory break, there is obviously nothing standing in the way of them playing and coach Tony Imreh can finally play with a larger rotation again. This will also be necessary at the weekend, because the guests, like the Angels, have no points to give away. They are particularly convincing with their effective defense and have conceded the fewest counter baskets so far. How the Rieserinnen do against such a strong team, can be followed on Sunday at 4 pm live in the Hermann-Kessler-Halle or in the stream on Sporttotal.tv. For the spectators in the gym, the 2G rule and FFP2 mask obligation applies, but at least you can still be live in the hall.
