(thla). A double 3G meal took place at Mom Lambertz in Baldingen. Olaf Butterbrod of the former ANGELS name sponsor XCYDE, had auctioned together with his family Anna and Ida a savoy cabbage dinner with the passionate hobby cook in favor of the former XCYDE Angels. Due to the Corona requirements, the dinner had to be postponed again and again and now took place last Saturday in compliance with the 3G rule. As another 3G measure, there was extensive eating, drinking and laughing. „Supporting“ came the ANGELS Marina Dzinic and Mariam Hasle-Lagemann. This later led to the fact that in the subsequent ANGELS Cup semi-final, in addition to five ANGELS, there were also two bratwursts and four meatballs on the field. No wonder that opponent Schwabach had no chance. Family Butterbrod and the Angles players seem to have enjoyed it. The abundant leftovers hoped for by son and ANGELS board member Thomas Lambertz for Sunday lunch were manageable and not very filling.
It was almost enough for a small sensation. With her spirited performance during the Angels Cup and especially in the final against the Inexio Royals from Saarlouis, new Angel Bianca Helmig played her way into the hearts of the spectators. Especially in the final game (79:85), the 19-year-old U20 national player was a factor that almost put the Angels on the winning track. With 15 points, great understanding of the game and tough defense, Helmig would also have been named MVP (the most valuable player of the tournament) if the Angels had won. But that title was deservedly snatched by Addisson Richardson of the winning Saarlouis team with a total of 22 points and a great performance on both days.
The EIGNER Angels will travel to Luxembourg next weekend for an interesting preparation tournament. In addition to Saarlouis, the first division promoted CAPITOL Bascats Düsseldorf, the Luxembourgian host and first division team BBC Grengewald and the former Eurochallenge participant and Belgian first division team from Lieges, the Lieges Panthers, will also take part. Friday evening at 18.15 the Angels open the tournament against Grengewald, who are coached by former German women’s national coach Hermann Paar. Saturday at 13.00 the Angels have to play Lieges and on Sunday at 11.00 a first meeting between Noerdlingen and Duesseldorf is scheduled before the return trip. Saarlouis one meets only on 19.09.2021 in own resounds in the context of the second cup round.
